What is Chiropractic?

The practice of chiropractic addresses the alignment of your spinal vertebra and other joints. When you have bones that do not align in your spine or other joints, these can put pressure on the surrounding nerves and muscles, causing pain, stiffness or numbness and tingling. This is called a "subluxation." Chiropractic adjustments help to remove this pressure and therefore alleviate the pain and nerve irritation, too. There are many ways to assess and correct the spine and our practice offers several of them to complement your nutritional program in restoring your body to full health and function.

You will receive a complete and thorough chiropractic, orthopedic, neurological examination which will uncover the underlying cause of your condition and determine the need for chiropractic care and/or a nutritional program which will work to help you better and faster results.

How does Chiropractic help your whole Nervous System?

The nervous system controls and coordinates every function of the human body. Therefore, interference with the nervous system will have a broad effect on function of the body. It is your nervous system that allows you to adapt to, and live in your environment.

A large portion of your nervous system passes through your spine. It is your spinal cord that acts as the major cable exiting your brain that travels down inside your spinal column and branches off into spinal nerves at various levels of your spine. These spinal nerves then exit between individual spinal vertebrae and and go to the various parts of your body.

Subluxations (vertebrae out of place pinching a nerve) can cause interference to the nervous system at any point along the spine where the nerves exit. This can adversely affect the function of various parts of your body (including organs), and ultimately your health. You will experience dysfunction and dis-ease of that part of your body that is connected to the subluxation.

When the bones in your spine are allowed to go back to their proper positions, the nerve energy can resume its normal flow and your body's natural healing processes can function properly.

Does a Chiropractic Adjustment hurt?

Through carefully applied pressure, massage, and manual manipulation of the vertebrae and joints, pressure and irritation on the nerves is relieved and joint mobility is restored, allowing your body to return to its natural state of balance. Proper chiropractic treatment is usually painless and involves very little risk and the rewards can be significant.

Scores of patients with chronic headaches, sinus problems, high blood pressure, ear infections, leg pain, arthritis, and many other illnesses have reported significant relief after chiropractic therapy.

Will I need X-rays?

A thorough history and examination will determine whether there is a need for x-rays to be seen in order to be treated safely. Approximately 50% of patients will need x-rays.
